With all the northern tracks shutting down last weekend because of the extreme heat, Ventura Raceway became the coolest place to race in California. Twenty-one IMCA Modifieds showed up and IMCA Sport Mods and IMCA Sport Compacts were introduced to Ventura for the first time. West Coast IMCA guru Paul Vetter was there to help with these new classes and add his flare to announcing all the IMCA classes. VRA Sprint Cars, Dwarf Cars and Hobby Stocks rounded out the program.

We now have two weeks of racing under our belt and things are starting to feel a little more normal. We had seven divisions of racers in the pits, four car classes and three motorcycles classes. VRA Sprint Cars along with Senior Sprints both had first time winners. Tom Stephens Sr. passed Mike Cook on lap seven and never looked back and went on to take his first VRA Senior Sprint Car Feature. Stephens has raced at Ventura Raceway for many decades and has been victorious in several divisions.

It’s good to be back racing after a fifteen month lay off. It was the 150th time USAC Midgets raced at Ventura Raceway and like always the Main Event was extremely exciting.

Ventura Raceway concluded its regular 2019 racing season Saturday night October 26. A full night of racing action kept the fans in attendance excited as the racers battled to see who would take track championships in two VRA divisions, the WMR Midgets and California Lightning Sprints. Headlining the night's event was the fast and furious USAC Midgets.

Saturday night September 21, saw an evening of exciting open wheel and stock car racing along with a fifteen car Demolition Derby. A full house of racing and derby fans saw drivers in the four car classes on hand continue the season long point battle in each class. Fans in attendance also witnessed exciting Demolition Derby action with a full field of fifteen cars crashing and bashing on the raceways clay oval.

On a warm, muggy night, the USAC Midgets made their second appearance at Ventura Raceway Saturday night September 14. Along with VRA Senior Sprints, Dwarf Cars and IMCA Modifieds Classes the fans in attendance were treated to some exciting racing from the opening heat races to the final main events.

Saturday night, September 7th, saw a small field of cars and motorcycles take to Ventura's 1/5 mile oval. Racing in three motorcycle classes and two car classes drivers went all out to go for the wins in their respective classes. The California Lightning Sprints headlined the program with 12 cars in attendance. They ran two heat races with wins going to Dominic Del Monte in heat one and Jon Robertson in heat two. They then ran a special format for their feature event. They ran twin fifteen lap main events. The first was run to set the field for the final fifteen lap feature. Dominic Del Monte won the first fifteen lap race and pulled a six invert for the final fifteen lap race. The final fifteen lap race went to Jarrett Kramer over Cody Nigh, A J Bender, Aiden Lange and Doug Nunes. Kramer's win was his fifth of the six Lightning Sprint races held at Ventura so far this season. Cody Nigh has the only other win here this year.

Ventura Raceway continued its 2019 season Saturday night, August 31st. On a breezy evening, the drivers in six car classes were on hand to continue the season long point battle in each class. Fans in attendance witnessed exciting racing in every class from the opening heats to the final main events. VRA Sprint Cars had very small field of three cars Saturday night. Tanner Boul took their one heat race. Due to a small field of four Senior Sprints, the two classes were combined. Senior Wally Pankratz won their one heat race. The main events for the two classes were combined with the regulars starting out front. A 20 lap main event then ran with the wins going to Rick Hendrix over Trent Williams and Tanner Boul in the regular VRA Sprints and Chris Meredith over Wally Pankratz, Tyler Hatzikian and Mark Sheppard in Senior Sprints. Rick Hendrix now leads the VRA Sprint Car point race after 12 races. Chris Meredith now leads Wally Pankratz by 20 points in the Senior Sprint Car division.

Ventura Raceway resumed its 2019 season after a month long break for the Ventura County Fair on a cool night with the running of the third USAC/VRA ARP Battle at the Beach race for 360 Sprint Cars, Saturday night August 24th. Five classes classes were on hand to put on an exciting night of racing for the fans in attendance.
