Saturday night July 13, saw an evening of exciting open wheel and stock car racing along with a Demolition Derby as Ventura Raceway held its salute to the 2019 Ventura County Fair. A full house of racing and derby fans saw drivers in four car classes on hand to continue the season long point battle in each class. Fans in attendance also witnessed exciting Demolition Derby action with a full field of cars crashing and bashing on the raceways clay oval.

VRA Sprint Cars had a small car count of seven cars on hand Saturday night. Ventura favorite, Troy Rutherford came out to race and took the wins in their one heat race and 25 lap main event. Rutherford took the win over Dylan Ito, Ryan Stolz, Rick Hendrix and Chris Meredith. After 10 races, Rick Hendrix continues to hold a large point lead over the rest of the VRA Sprint Car competitors.

IMCA Modifieds were back for another round of competition with 14 cars signed into the pits. They ran two heat races, with wins going to Terry Hershberger and Trevor Fitzgibbon. The 20 lap main event was fast and furious with past track champ Donald Houghton taking the win over Terry Hershberger, Luis Espinosa, Trevor Fitzgibbon and Austin Rodarte. After eight races in 2019, Jack Parker leads Terry Hershberger by 3 points.

VRA Pro Dwarf Cars continued their season with 12 cars signing into the pits. They ran two heat races with wins going to Tom Morley and Tommy Velasquez III. The main event saw Tommy Velasquez III take the 20 lap feature for his first win in 2019. He led his brother Nick Velasquez, Trent Morley, Tom Morley and Brad Curnel to the finish line. Jason Horton now leads Trent Morley by 85 points in the series after 10 races.

VRA Hobby Stocks was the final car class racing Saturday night. Seven cars signed into the pits. They then ran one heat race with the win going to Tom Stephens Jr. Their 20 lap main event went to fist time Ventura winner Justin Gonzalez. He was followed to the line by Ricky Lewis, Tom Stephens Jr., Jeff Houghton and Alyssa Smith. After 7 races in 2019, Tom Stephens Jr. leads Ricky Lewis by 155 points.

The final event of the night was a Demolition Derby featuring eleven cars. The cars crashed and bashed for a total of seventeen minutes with Jose Soto coming out the victor over Caleb Litton, Scott Ohnemus, Carl Clevenger and Michael Newcomb.

Ventura Raceway returns to action on Saturday July 20th, with the running of the Fifth Annual A J Herrera Memorial race for Flat Track motorcycles, Vintage Speedway and the wild Sidecars! The night will feature amateur and pro racers.
