Rick Hendrix wins another VRA Sprint Car Feature.
Wally Pankratz wins the Senior Sprint Car Main and takes the lead in the 2019 points race.
Johnny Conley gets his first Dwarf Car Feature win of the 2019 season.
Luis Espinoza wins the IMCA Modified Main for his first win of the season.
Alyssa Smith dominates the Hobby Stock Main and takes another win .
Saturday night, June 29th, saw an evening of exciting open wheel and stock car racing at Ventura Raceway. The drivers in five car classes were on hand to continue the season long point battle in each class.
VRA Sprint Cars had a small car count of five cars. Rick Hendrix took the 30 lap feature over Kyle Smith,Tyler Edwards, Wally Pankratz and Tom Hendricks. They ran one heat with the win being taken by Kyle Smith. The small car count in Senior Sprints as well, caused them to run as a part of the Sprint car main. Scored separately, the Senior win went to Wally Pankrratz over Chris Meredith, Russell Martin and Paul Mirick. Mirick had a very hard crash on lap one, when Charlie Butcher and Mirick came into contact on the front straight with Mirick flipping wildly down the front straight. The Seniors did run their own heat race with the win doing to Chris Meredith.
IMCA Modifieds were back for another round of competition with 13 cars signed into the pits. They ran two heat races, with wins going to Anthony Merritt and Joey Haresky. The 20 lap main event was fast and furious with past track champ Luis Espinosa taking the win over Jack Parker, Joey Haresky, Dave Phipps and Andrew Greiman. In a race that saw several incidents, only five of the 12 starters finished the race.
VRA Pro Dwarf Cars continued their season with 19 cars signing into the pits. They ran three heat races with wins going to Tim Conley, Jason Horton and Tommy Velasquez III.. The main event saw Johnny Conley return to action to take the 20 lap feature. He led Trent Morley, Jason Horton, Tim Conley and Tommy Velasquez III to the finish line. Horton now leads Trent Morley by 135 points in the series after 9 races.
VRA Hobby Stocks was the final car class racing Saturday night. Four cars signed into the pits. They then ran one heat race with the win going to 17 year old Alsssa Smith from Norco. Their 20 lap main event also went to Alyssa Smith. She was followed to the line by Tom Stephens Jr., Aaron Bruce and Ryan changus. After 5 races in 2019, Tom Stephens Jr., leads Ryan Changus by 55 points.
Ventura Raceway returns to action on Saturday, July 6th, with the VRA Sprint Cars, VRA Senior Sprints, Lightning Sprints, Hobby Stocks and Focus/WMR Midgets.
