Results 4-20-2019

Ventura Raceway ran its fourth race of the 2019 season Saturday night April 20th. On a cool, overcast evening the drivers in four car classes and three motorcycle classes were on hand to continue the season long points battle in each class. Fans in attendance witnessed exciting racing in every class from the opening heats to the final main events.

VRA Sprint Cars had nine cars on hand Saturday night. Charley Butcher took the 30 lap feature over Rick Hendrix, Brandon Wiley, Tyler Hatzikian and Kenny Perkins. Butcher took the lead from his pole position starting position and led all 30 laps to claim his first ever VRA Sprint Car victory. They ran two heat races with wins being taken by Tyler Hatzikian in heat one and Brandon Wiley in heat two. Rick Hendrix now leads the point race by 50 points over Charlie Butcher.

IMCA Modifieds were back for another round of competition with with 8 cars signed into the pits. They ran two heat races, with wins going to Dylan Thornton and Austin Grabowski. The 20 lap main event was fast and furious with Dylan Thornton leading all 20 laps to take his first Ventura Raceway win. Following Thornton to the line were 2018 track champion Trevor Fitzgibbon, Terry Hershberger, Kevin Hocking and Austin Grabowski. After three races in 2019, Trevor Fitzgibbon leads Jack Parker by 2 points.

VRA Pro Dwarf Cars continued their season with 17 cars signing into the pits. They ran three heat races with wins going to Johnny Conley, Jason Horton and Brad Curnel. Horton then went on to take their 20 lap feature passing Trent Morley in turn four of the last lap! Morley had led all 19 previous laps. Horton now leads Tommy Velasquez III by 110 points in the series after 4 races.

VRA Hobby Stocks was the final car class racing Saturday night. Eight cars signed into the pits. They ran two heat races with wins going to Tom Stevens Jr. and Ryan Changus. Their 20 lap main event went to Ricky Lewis, who led all 20 laps of the event. He was followed to the line by Justin Jackson, Ryan Changus, Tom Stevens Jr. and Michael Scruggs. After 2 races in 2019, Ricky Lewis leads Ryan Changus by 30 points.

The three motorcycle classes had wins in their main events go to Andrew Ellis in the 100cc Pit Bikes, Nicholas Langstrop in the 150cc Pit Bike Class and John Tinsley in the 250/450cc Motocross Flat Track Class. These three classes will run again on May 18.
