Saturday night April 30 saw a great night of short track racing as Ventura Raceway continued its 2016 season. Competition in every class was very close and hard fought in each heat race, semi main and main event.

In VRA Sprints, 17 cars signed into the pits for their fourth race of the season. It was a night that saw visiting drivers take the honors in the main event. Brody Roa took the 30 lap feature over Jake Swanson, Luke Boles, Cody Majors and past VRA champ Kyle Smith. Roa and Swanson will be here next week on USAC CRA 410 sprint cars. Cody Majors led from the start to lap 19 when Roa did a perfect slide job to get the lead and go on to the win. A big crash on the opening lap brought out the red flag and took out several cars including 2015 champ Guy Woodward, Tyler Williams, Jesse Brown, Mikey Lovas and Charlie Butcher. Heat race wins went to Jeremy Ellertson in heat one and Mikey Lovas in heat two and Rick Hendrix in heat three. Hendrix now is leading in the point race by 80 points over Guy Woodward and 135 points over Jeremy Ellertson after four races.

Ventura Raceway continued its 2016 car racing season to a good crowd of fans and a strong field of cars. After opening night’s event we had a week off for Easter but the racers were ready to go Saturday night and the night proved to be exciting and eventful. Competition was very close and hard fought from top to bottom in each class from the opening heat races to the final man events.

Ventura Raceway opened its car racing season to a good crowd of fans and a strong field of cars. After four months off, and last weeks rainout, the racers were ready to go and the night proved to be exciting and eventful. Competition was very close and hard fought from top to bottom in each class from the opening heat races to the final main events.
