Ventura Raceway returned to car racing after two weeks of motorcycle racing and a weekend off for the Fourth of July holiday. Saturday night, July 9, saw the season continue with a great night of exciting short track racing. Despite smaller than usual car counts, in some classes, competition was very close and hard fought from top to bottom in each event.

The USAC Midgets returned to Ventura Raceway Saturday night May 21, and quite a show it was! Twenty-eight of these high speed machines raced around Ventura's 1/5 mile clay oval in front of a crowd who showed their appreciation for their return.

Saturday night May 7, saw a great night of short track racing, as Ventura Raceway held a very special event with USAC/CRA Sprint 410 Sprint Cars headlining the show. VRA Seniors Sprints and Focus Midgets were also there to complete a full night of exciting racing action.

Ventura Raceway opened its car racing season to a good crowd of fans and a strong field of cars. After four months off, and last weeks rainout, the racers were ready to go and the night proved to be exciting and eventful.
