Results 4-28-2018

Ventura Raceway’s second night of racing action was another exciting night for all divisions. The fans in attendance saw close, hard fought competition from the opening heats to the final main events. VRA Dwarf Cars, VRA Hobby Stocks, VRA Focus. IMCA Modifieds and the VRA Sprint Cars, who opened their 2018 season, were on hand to compete for points in the new season.

Twelve VRA Sprints were on hand Saturday night to open their 2018 season. Two heat races were run with wins going to Kyle Edwards in heat one and Brody Roa in heat two. They then ran their 30 lap main event with the win going to Brody Roa. 2017 series champion Kyle Smith finished second with Jeremy Ellertson third, Danny Parrish fourth and first-time racer Gage Rucker fifth.

In VRA Dwarf Cars, Jason Horton took his first win of the season over a field of 18
VRA Dwarf Cars. He took the lead on lap eleven from early race leader Tommy Velasquez III and went on to take the win. He was followed across the line by Tommy Velasquez III, Johnny Conley, Kevin Calvo and Trent Morley. Three heat races were run with wins going to Nick Velasquez, in heat one, Tim Conley in heat two and Tommy Velasquez III in heat three.

Ten IMCA Modifieds continued their season with two heat races, which were won by Donald Houghton heat one and Luis Espinoza in heat two. The 20 lap main event was another fast and furious event, which went to 2017 champ Luis Espinoza, followed by Dennis Eckert, Andrew Greiman and Donald Houghton. This is two wins in a row for Espinoza.

A seven car field of VRA Hobby Stocks took to the track for their second race of the season. They ran one heat race with the win going to Tom Stephens Sr. Their 15 lap main event went to Mike Stanford, taking his second win in a row, followed by Ricky Lewis, David Bettencourt, Ernie Malone and Travis Avila.

The final group running Saturday night was the VRA Focus Midgets. Eight cars were in attendance for the night. They ran one heat race with the win going to Chris Tramel. Their 20 lap main event went to 2017 series champ Jet Davison, followed across the line by Keoni Texeria, Mike Leach, Chris Tramel and Raymomo Baldiez.

This coming Saturday May 5th, Ventura Raceway hosts the USAC 410 Sprint Cars, the popular California Lightning Sprints and VRA Dwarf Cars.
