On April 13th, Western Midget Racing Series debuted their Chevy Ecotec Midgets to an enthusiastic crowd. 6 Midgets were on hand to put on their first race of the 2019 season. The brains behind the operation, Mike McCluney, has put together this faster Midget which originally began as an experiment. “The engine/chassis combination is well balanced and the cars are very drivable and racy. Make no mistake, these are legitimate and exciting race cars! It’s hard to imagine a better cost/performance ratio with complete engine packages costing between $4800 and $8500 depending on how much you can scrounge and whether you buy a used engine or a new rebuild. For the record, five of the six cars that raced Saturday had wrecking yard sourced engines that cost about $700.00 each! The record also shows that all six WMR Midgets were fast enough to respectfully qualify into the VRA 360 Sprint Car event!”
We have added this division to our Focus Midget nights on the schedule. They are worth checking these out! May 4th is the next date that they will be in Ventura.
VENTURA RACEWAY WELCOMES RUSS BROWN MOTORCYCLE ATTORNEY AS SPEEDWAY AND MOTORCYCLE RACE MAIN SPONSOR
Ventura Raceway have formed a partnership with the prestiguous company Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorney. The move secures that Speedway Motorcycle Racing will continue at Ventura Raceay, with Round 1 of the 2019 AMA National Speedway Championship Series being held on Saturday June 15th. The company will also be a main sponsor of the July 27th AJ Herrera Memorial Flat Track races, along with six other events featuring motorcyles in the 2019 season.
Russ Brown, known at the ‘original motorcycle attorney who rides’, founded the company in 1975. His lifelong passion for riding naturally led him to help his fellow bikers who were being taken advantage of in personal injury cases. As his attention to bikers’ rights propelled him into the limelight, he became known as the top motorcycle attorney in California, then in the US. In 2013, Russ was honored to become the first lawyer ever to be inducted in the Sturgis Motorcycle Museum Hall of Fame.
Ventura Raceway promoter Jim Naylor enthused, “We are very excited to be entering into this partnership with Russ Brown Motorcycle Attorney, which we plan to make a long lasting relationship. It is just the injection we need to rejuvenate our Motorcycle program and we are starting with the AMA Speedway National on June 15th. We have run this showcase race, considered the best single speedway motorcycle event in the USA since 2013, but it was clear for it to continue and grow, we needed a team mate. We are very excited for the future and cannot wait to have them at our races.”
