Once again
the racing at Ventura Raceway was
outstanding in all divisions. Saturday
night proved this once again with close
hard fought racing action that saw the
midget win go to a hard charging Danny
Ebberts over Greg Edenholm. The race was
highlighted by a great run by Wally
Pankratz as he ran the high line to take
the lead from Greg Edenholm on lap 19.
Wally led until lap 27 when his night
ended with an overheated engine against
the turn one wall. Ebberts who was close
behind then took the lead to take the 30
lap main event win. Following Ebberts
across the line were Edenholm, David
Prickett, Jake Swanson and Randi
Pankratz. Prickett's third place finish
earned him the Weld Racing Hard Charger
award for coming from last to third in
the event. There were two heat races run
with wins going to Danny Ebberts and
Wink Sweitzer. Greg Edenholm's second
place puts him in the lead in the season
point race.
VRA Dwarf Cars were on hand running in
two divisions, Seniors and Pros. In the
Seniors, the 20 lap feature win went to
Mike Neal with George Calvo, Bill
VanPraag, Keith Vondersaar and Bobby
Lague following him across the finish
line. They ran two heat races with the
wins going to Bobby Lague and George
Calvo. In Pro action the main event win
went to first time winner Luke Boles,
over Curt Cook, Eric Moore, Randy Gordon
and Lee Majors. They ran three heat
races with wins going to Randy Gordon,
Ray Estrada and Kevin Calvo. After last
Saturday's action, Ray Estrada leads in
Pro points and Bill VanPraag leads in
Senior points.
VRA Mod Lites saw Chris Olson take the
win over Kevin Alverson, his grandfather
Mike Sweeney, Dave Dotson and Mike
Kornder. Their heat race went to Kevin
Alverson. The season point lead after
Saturday night belongs to Mike Sweeney.
The final adult group racing Saturday
night was the VRA Focus Midget Class.
The twenty lap feature went to Parker
Colston who took the lead on lap one
from his pole position starting position
and went on to lead all laps. Following
him across the line were Mike Steele,
Brennan Rogers, Ashley Hazelton and
Wally Pankratz. The class ran one heat
race with the win going to Parker
Colston. Wally Pankratz continues to
lead in the season point race by 5
points over Parker Colston.
Saturday night also saw racing in our
three kids divisions. In Junior Midgets
Devin McCree took the win over Tommy
Velasquez, Miles Hedrick and Jake
Aguilar. Tommy Velasquez took their heat
race win. In Mini Dwarf Superchargers,
the win went to Nick Velasquez over J D
Brown, Eli Marshall and Destyn Garcia.
Velasquez also took the heat race win.
In Mini Dwarf Pistons the win went to
Zack Chavez over Garret Egan and Dylan
Neal.
